SMS as an MFA Verification Method (DEPRECATED)

Users who currently rely on SMS as an MFA verification method can continue to use this option till April 28, 2022.
The option to use SMS text messages as an MFA verification method is not available for new users.
If you were using a SMS capable mobile phone number as a 2FA backup option prior to April 2021, you have the option of using SMS as a MFA verification method until April 28, 2022.
In order to protect user accounts from the security risks associated with use of SMS, Heroku is not offering SMS as an MFA verification option for any new users.
Action Required
If you currently use SMS as an MFA Verification Method, note that any phone number configured as a MFA verification method will be disabled on April 28, 2022.
For ensuring continued MFA protection for your account -
- Visit Account Settings and select
Manage Multi-Factor Authentication
. - Ensure that you have set up other supported verification methods.
- If you haven’t already done so, we strongly recommend generating recovery codes as an important backup when your primary MFA verification method is not available.
